A TALK and Q&A with David Bowie drummer Woody Woodmansey, set to be held at Quay Arts next week, has been cancelled due to family illness.

Woody, who played in Bowie's Spiders from Mars backing band in the 1970s and recorded classic albums including The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Aladdin Sane, was due to have appeared at the event on Thursday.

However, a family emergency has forced the star to pull out.

Woody said: "I was very much looking forward to coming to the Isle of Wight for this, and I'm sorry I'm not now able to make it.

"I'll fix a new date when I am able to do so. Thanks everybody."

Organiser Andy Barding, co-owner of AAA Record Shop in Scarrots Lane, Newport, said: "I was very much looking forward to meeting up with Woody for this, but family must come first and we wish Woody and family all the very best."

A new date will now be arranged for later in the year.

Tickets already purchased will be refunded by Quay Arts.
