PUPILS from Nine Acres Community Primary School had an out-of-this world experience, when they were visited by retired NASA astronaut, Tony Antonelli.

Tony talked to the school about how he became an astronaut — encouraging pupils to work hard — and answered children's questions.

The school recently gained its first Space Education Quality Mark (SEQM) award, to secure foundations in space education for future children in the school.

Eniko Bekesi, science lead, said: "We have been excited to hear all about Mr Antonelli's journey — children have learned that ordinary people can achieve even seemingly impossible goals."

Beth Dyer, headteacher, said: "Thank you to the Ogden Trust in supporting this incredible visit.

"What an inspiration to the children of Nine Acres to never give up on dreams, and to believe that anything you put your mind to can become reality."
