MISSING Rosie Johnson had separated from her boyfriend and was worried about work, before her body was found in woodland following an extensive search and rescue operation.

An inquest into her death, opened at the Isle of Wight Coroner's Court yesterday (Tuesday), heard Rosie was last seen by her roommate at PGL Little Canada, where she worked as an activities instructor, shortly before 10.30pm on Saturday, June 22.

The inquest opening heard she was worried about a mediation meeting at work, following a minor dispute with another employee, and had separated from her boyfriend.

She had been drinking alcohol and was described as being in a heightened emotional state.

Rosie, 22, was reported missing by her employer on Monday, June 24, when she did not turn up for work, which was considered out of character.

An extensive search was carried out, largely in the Wootton area.

Her body was found hanging in woodland, in the Briddlesford area, at 3.20pm on Friday, June 28.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death was hanging.

Rosie, from the village of Strachan, in Aberdeenshire, was a Glasgow University zoology graduate and the niece of Scottish politician Daniel Johnson.

Her family were not present at the hearing.

The inquest has been adjourned to November 20.
