AN ISLE of Wight band are set to release their debut album — with an early release party in Newport.

Sexy Pretty Things — formed in 2015 — will be releasing their first full album, Standing Ovulation, on August 1.

The band is comprised of four misfit Islanders in frontman, Jack Hall, 24, guitarist, Stuart Heath, 25, bassist, Jacob Smith, 25, and drummer, Philip Legaspi, 22.

"The band takes a lot of inspiration from all genres, but the reoccurring influence is always the American punk and indie rock scene, with bands like Fidlar, The Front Bottoms, and Manchester Orchestra," said Jack.

"There's a pretty strong music scene on the Island right now, I'd also recommend Valentine Gray, King Kuna and The Pill to name a few."

Jo Symes, of BBC Introducing Solent, described the band as "The lovechild of Placebo and AFI — this four-piece outfit from the Isle of Wight are a bittersweet cocktail — mixing hard punk anthems like Slip ‘n’ Fall with the soft warmth of Lucy Fire".

The band's album — recorded at Skinny Mammoth, and produced and mastered by Hungry Hound Productions — will be available for purchase on August 1.

For those that can't wait that long, the band will be hosting an early release party at Strings Bar and Venue, Newport, on July 19.

Tickets are available for purchase on the door.

On August 1, the band will also be kicking off their Standing Ovulation tour, performing at eight venues across the UK including gigs in Cardiff, Stoke and Camden.
