BEMBRIDGE RNLI was called to assist a yacht that had run aground this morning (Tuesday).

At around 6.50am, the RNLB Norman Harvey was launched to assist the 44 foot yacht on the edge of the Bembridge Ledge.

The yacht had left Bembridge Harbour en route to Yarmouth.

A spokesperson for Bembridge RNLI said: "The yacht was too hard aground by the time the Norman Harvey arrived to be towed off, so she was secured, and the crew were ferried ashore to the inshore boathouse in three trips.

"The Norman Harvey was recovered by 7.45am.

"The current thoughts are to take some extra lifeboat crew out to the yacht at around 4.30pm this afternoon, and to tow her to the mooring off the offshore boathouse, and then providing the yacht is ok, to shuttle the crew back onboard."
