THE 8,000-plus tax credits claimants on the Isle of Wight have been urged to renew by July 31, or risk losing their payments.

A new advertising campaign has been launched by HM Revenue and Customs aimed at encouraging those who receive payments through the tax credits system to update their information with the government body before the end of the month.

Angela MacDonald, director general for customer services at HMRC, said: “We know our customers lead busy lives, which is why our online services are available day and night.”

Applicants can check the status of their tax credits on the HMRC app or by visiting gov.uk.

Ms MacDonald said: “Customers can complete their tax credit renewals at a time convenient to them. Renewing on time is vital to ensure that their payments don’t stop.”
