WIGHT Aviation Museum at the IW Airport will host the Island's first Shed Fest on July 9, in aid of the IW Men in Sheds projects.

Age UK IW, facilitators of the Men in Sheds projects — or 'Sheds' as they are collectively known — announced the event will be opened by the Island’s High Sheriff, Geoff Underwood.

The event will host a range of entertainment, including live music from the acoustic music sheds, stalls, speakers and refreshments.

Festival goers can find out about sheds in their area, buy second hand tools and home grown produce, while celebrating Sheds' success across the Island.

Lois Prior, Men In Sheds coordinator at Age UK IW, said: "This is my fifth year working with Sheds, I have been privileged to experience a difference to members and communities.

There are currently 14 Island Sheds facilitated by Age UK and two independent Sheds — including themes of music, woodwork, engineering, gardening and history.

Shed Fest takes place between 12pm and 6pm, with free admission to visitors.
