A MOTHER is fighting for her life after being airlifted from the Briddlesford Road car crash on Thursday evening.

Becky Wall, 28, of Ryde, is currently in a coma, surrounded by family and loved ones in the neurological intensive care unit of Southampton General Hospital.

A fundraising page has been set up on Facebook to help her family, including her young daughter, and the Island community has already donated nearly £4,000 in just a few hours.

The fundraiser has been set up by a family member to help with travel costs, accommodation, and support for Becky's daughter.

The page states: "It is not yet known if she will pull through. She is surrounded by her family and loved ones who have been by her side since the accident and an incredible NHS team at Southampton General.

"No one can prepare for an event like this, and this has come as a complete shock to the entire family. We would like to raise some money in order to relieve some of the financial stress this situation can bring, so the family can concentrate on Becky, without having to worry about anything else.

"All monies raised will be spent and recorded carefully, and any money left over will be split between a donation to the NICU in Southampton and the air ambulance charity that helped get Becky to Southampton as quickly as possible."

As previously reported, police are looking for two men who fled the scene of the accident.

The fundraising page is at facebook.com/donate/1572933906173959/10157232715244424/

The family said: "We will never message anyone directly for contributions, the only way to safely and securely donate is through the Facebook fundraiser."
