TWO people have been seriously injured in a car crash on Briddlesford Road near Wootton.

The emergency services are in attendance at the scene, where two cars have crashed at the junction with Blacklands Road.

Three other casualties have been described by the IW Ambulance Service as 'walking wounded'.

At least one of the seriously injured casualties will be airlifted to hospital and the Hampshire and IW Air Ambulance is in attendance.

The ambulance service has also sent two ambulances, plus two officers — a tactical commander and an operational commander.

Police are in attendance and have closed Briddlesford Road both ways.

The emergency services were alerted at 5.43pm.

The IW Fire Service were sent to assist the ambulance crews. Two engines went from Newport Fire Station, and one from Ryde.
