A FAMILY Celebration of Summer weekend, involving Vikings, belly dancers and ponies, was held at Calbourne Water Mill.

The two days of fun included stalls, live music and plenty of action with water mill manager Sue Osmond saying: "It was a fabulous weekend and the weather was great.

"Although that actually worked against us on Saturday because a lot of people headed to the beach.

"We hold the event each year to coincide with the summer solstice. Everyone had a great time."

Entertainment at the event, on Saturday and Sunday, included live music from Key Notes and the Tea 'N' Biscuit Boys and dancing from the Mata Hari Belly Dancers.

There was a display of vintage engines, dating back to 1904, and the Happy Ponies — therapy ponies who visit people in care homes — were there, too.

On Sunday, the Island's Wolfguard Vikings arrived.

Sue said: "They had a water duel with some fire hoses. Suffice it to say, the Viking warriors got very wet."
