A HOUSE fire has been tackled by firefighters in Ryde this morning.

The IW Fire Service mobilised three engines with crews and an officer to the property on Park Road after getting the emergency call at 11.45am.

All the property occupants have been accounted for and the fire has been extinguished.

The fire service is still in attendance.

A spokesperson said the fire broke out in the ground floor front room.

A cause has not yet been given.

UPDATE 2.30pm: The road has now reopened.

The property was saved from fire, although there was substantial smoke damage.

The Red Cross is now helping the family with their needs.
