A HUGE race village will be set up on Cowes Parade for the forthcoming Round the Island Race.

Live music, children’s entertainment, and food and drink will have something for young and old.

The world-famous sailing event, the Round the Island Race, is on Saturday, June 29, and this year Cowes Parade is going to play host to a bigger official race village than in previous years.

The village will feature a packed entertainment schedule and stalls to browse and buy from.

Sailors from around the world will flock to Cowes, and there will be up to 1,500 boats participating.

Sailors will chart the course around the IW with iconic views of the fleet and coastal scenery.

The race starts from Cowes at 7.30am and ends in Cowes with the leading competitors traditionally taking less than four hours to complete it.

Participants and spectators can gather on Cowes Parade and enjoy the race village.

Live music will include performances from Essence of Motown and Britain’s Got Talent’s Derek Sandy, and Randini will entertain the children.

A broad selection of food will be available from local stalls including Nomad Street Food, Frostbite Bakery, Vegan Boys and the IW Proper Burger Co.

Stands from race partners Helly Hansen, Raymarine and Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust will also be on the parade.

The race village is open on Friday, June 28, from noon to 11pm, Saturday from 7am to 77pm, and Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
