A COUPLE who meet at the Cavendish Ballroom in Edinburgh have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.

Joyce, 84, and Eric Wall, 85, who were married on June 13 have lived in Wootton since 1969, enjoyed a meal with friends from holidays and dance clubs.

They also received an anniversary card from The Queen congratulating them on 60 years of marriage.

Eric, a former Royal Navy serviceman and firefighter, said: "The secret to 60 years is common sense — it's always thinking of others, appreciating life, supporting each other and neither person having the upper hand.

"We feel very proud of ourselves, it is a long time, but it doesn't seem that long.

"You have to support each other to look back and say, I might not have everything I want, but I have everything I need."

The couple enjoy socialising through traditional sequence dancing, which they learnt on the Island, dancing with the Niton Scottish Dancing Group and the IW Caledonian Society.
