TEAM Isle of Wight’s clay shooting team is targeting Island Games medals in Gibraltar.

Kath Bright, 48, of East Cowes, will shoot alongside former Islander Joe Joseph, now of Newcastle, at the week-long event.

Kath, retail operations manager at Mountbatten, is the only woman competing in clay target shooting and will challenge for individual honours in the automatic ball trap, Olympic trap and Olympic skeet.

Joe will shoot in the automatic ball and Olympic traps and the pair will also compete in team events.

“If we shoot to our potential, we should be near the medals,” said Kath.

“We have as good a chance as anyone. The range in Gibraltar has only just been built, so the locals won’t have a big advantage. Hopefully we’ll be on form.”

Kath, who won three golds and a silver medal at the Jersey games in 2015, has also had special glasses made to help her focus on the target as they are fired out to sea off a cliff.
