BEACH houses and an indoor swimming pool have been built at a West Wight holiday resort as part of a £600,000 revamp.

The 18-month renovation project has been completed at The Bay Colwell, owned by Aria Resorts.

The complex at Fort Warden Road now has a new indoor swimming pool, indoor play area for children and licensed cafe.

The 50 cottages at the site have also been refurbished, and many now have their own hot tubs.

Greg Nolan, regional operations manager, said: "The work has been done in three phases and everything is now operational.

"Previously, we had an outdoor pool, tennis court and play area. But we have taken away the tennis court to rebuild an indoor pool with a separate cafe, and indoor play area for children up to the age of six.

"There is decking outside the swimming pool and cafe so our guests can enjoy the sunshine.

"We have also built three new beach houses whose balconies overlook Colwell Bay itself."

"We have lots of other ideas at the moment, like entertainment in the peak season on a Saturday night and facilities for pizzas in the cafe.

"But we want feedback from our guests because, in the end, it's all about what they want."

Aria also owns holiday parks at Rookley at St Helens, and plans to renovate and reopen the Priory Bay Hotel.
