MORE than 100 Morris dancers gathered on the Isle of Wight in preparation for a big anniversary event.

The Men of Wight dancers, whose roots go back to the The Sloop Inn Folk Club and the Circle Wight country dance group, will celebrate their 50th anniversary next year.

The group are a regular fixture at Island events during the summer and have performed across the UK and Europe.

Last Friday and Sunday, they were joined by visiting mainland groups on a tour from Totland Bay to Ryde, with evening entertainment provided at a barn dance at Wootton Community Centre.

More than 100 dancers took part.

Next year, the Men of Wight will invite groups from across the country and Europe to celebrate their anniversary.
