WIGHTLINK has announced its shortlist of finalists in its new Woof Awards.

The Wightlink Woof Awards have been introduced to promote the Island as a dog-friendly destination, by highlighting some of the best canine-friendly businesses and attractions.

More than 1,300 nominations were received for this year’s Wightlink Woof Awards, including winning categories for devoted dog owners and the top dogs themselves.

Prizes include trophies, goody bags, £100 in Wightlink travel vouchers, and a Golden Pawprint.

Judges have shortlisted the number of nominations, and winners will be announced at this year's County Show (June 30), at the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society Show Ground, Northwood.

Stuart James, marketing and innovation director at Wightlink, said: “We always knew the Island was a dog-friendly destination but were encouraged by the number of nominations received.

“We would like to thank everyone who nominated, and all businesses and individuals on the Island who ensure our canine visitors get the best of welcomes.”

The awards panel includes dog behaviour specialist, Paul James Marshall, the Dog Reporter Project, Visit IW managing director, William Myles, Dogstival organiser, Domine Nowell, and Wightlink's Jonathan Pascoe, finance director.
