ISLE of Wight crews rescued an unwell person onboard a yacht yesterday evening (Thursday).

At approximately 6pm, the Cowes RNLI lifeboat, Sheena Louise was launched to a drifting 28ft yacht that had suffered an engine failure.

The lifeboat was met at the scene by the Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team.

On arrival, one of the four sailors was found to be unwell, and was taken to shore, and left in the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

The yacht — drifting north-east of Hillhead Buoy, close to the Hampshire shore — was later towed across the Solent, arriving at Trinity Landing, Cowes at around 7pm.
