FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a house fire in Newport this evening (Wednesday).

Two crews from Newport and one from East Cowes were called to the scene, at Clarendon Place, off Castle Road, shortly after 5pm.

An Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the fire had broken out in a first floor bedroom.

Everyone has been evacuated from the property.
