THERE were some strong performances by athletes of the Isle of Wight Special Olympics team, who competed in the Regional Athletics Meeting at Thames Valley Athletics Centre, Eton.

On her debut in the event, Summer Wyatt won silver for long jump, gaining a personal best distance, and came fourth in the 100m.

Summer also contributed a good leg in the mixed 4x100m relay, to earn bronze.

George Hanham finished the relay strongly and added fourth place in the long jump — narrowly missing out on extending his PB by over 30cm when he marginally clipped the putty on the take-off board.

Dawn Cotton won the soft ball thrown event, extending her PB by 3.35m, with Anna-Rosa Cretella third. Dawn also won gold in the 100m race.
