A BAND set to perform at the Isle of Wight Festival will no longer be attending after the guitarist seriously injured his leg.

American rock band, Cage The Elephant — scheduled to perform on the Big Top Stage on Saturday night — have withdrawn from the line-up following an accident suffered by guitarist Nick Bockrath's on stage.

The band has cancelled all its upcoming European tour dates, with Nick requiring immediate surgery.

A spokesperson for the band said: "Sadly, our guitarist Nick Bockrath had an accident on stage at Pinkpop and injured his leg badly (ruptured PCL, torn ACL, fractured tibia, damaged meniscus).

"He tried to play through two shows, but he now requires immediate surgery and is currently getting the medical attention he needs."
