OVERSLEEPING and missing your McMuffin could be a thing of the past.

From today, the Isle of Wight's two McDonald’s restaurants will be trialling extending breakfast service to 11am.

Currently across the UK and Ireland, breakfast is served until 10.30am and has been for nearly 25 years.

But in seven restaurants this summer, in Ryde, Newport, and Portsmouth, McDonald’s will trial extending breakfast to 11am, giving customers 30 extra McMuffin minutes.

Customers will have to wait until 11am to get their hands on a Big Mac but the trial is to determine whether or not the public wants to see this rolled out across the country.

McDonald’s franchisee Grant Copper, who owns and operates the restaurants trialling the service, said: “I’m thrilled to be bringing this service to my customers, and look forward to hearing their feedback.”

The trial will run for six weeks.
