THE annual Joe Ellis Trust Fun Day raised more than £2,500.

The event is the main fundraiser for the Island children's cancer charity, with this year's event at Arreton Barns seeing record numbers of visitors, and support from local businesses and organisations.

Sporting Bears' Motor Club provided car rides in its classic and sports cars models, including a Subaru Impreza WRX, and Nissan Skyline GT-R.

Simon Ellis, founder of the trust, said: "The day went really well, there was a real village fete feel about it — we're already planning for next year."

Children and their families enjoyed the range of entertainment available, including tractor rides and a bouncy castle.

A special thanks was mentioned to volunteers — Carina Merry, Victoria Hopkins, Liz Cosgrove, Dave Cosgrove, Kelly Carr, Jennifer Lewis and Tanya Bennett — who donated their time to the event.

Simon said: "We are so grateful to the Island community for continuing to help us, help local children, and to hear from parents that we help make a difference."

A charity football match between the IW NHS Trust and Hampshire Constabulary, is set for July 14, at Westwood Park, Cowes, in aid of the Joe Ellis Trust, and Sands.
