THE JOYS of getting out on the water were promoted by the Royal Victoria Yacht Club recently.

RVYC members supported this year's Push the Boat Out, a Royal Yachting Association initiative to get people to try different water activities.

Conditions were near-perfect as members took people sailing in their cruisers, dinghies and squibs. Among the most popular rides were the RIB rides.

RVYC commodore Steve Sheridan said: "Our aim was to make people aware of the wonderful facilities and sailing waters we have here at Fishbourne.

"Nearly 60 people came along, and the families, children and adults all said they enjoyed going out on the water. Many were interested in getting further training and joining the club."

One parent said: "Sailing is the perfect activity for the whole family to be involved in. The club is very family friendly, welcoming and inclusive.

"The kids just loved their time on the water and we all now plan to join and start sailing at Fishbourne."
