A FORMER paddock in Rookley has been converted into a meadow.

Sarah Starsmore — who has lived in the village for 23 years — has converted her paddock into a wildlife meadow.

An ongoing project of six years, contractors were brought in initially to clear away the grass, and Sarah has worked on the land ever since.

The end result is a wildlife meadow, spanning one and a half acres — hand-weeded three hours a day, seven days a week by Sarah.

Members of the Ramblers Association have even come across to see the sea of flowers, and its hues of reds, blues and whites.

Sarah said: "The best time to visit is a month from the end of May, that is when the flowers are at their best.

"The meadow is fantastic for the bees and wildlife."

The Red Barn — a self catering accommodation with access for wheelchairs and guests with limited mobility — directly overlooks the meadow.
