BEMBRIDGE RNLI's inshore lifeboat was called into action this morning (Monday) after a yacht ran aground.

The 42ft yacht, listing heavily to one side on Bembridge Ledge — just south of the Bembridge lifeboat station — has been secured.

All crew have been taken ashore, and a larger lifeboat will be sent at around 5pm to recover the vessel.

UPDATE:

Bembridge RNLI have confirmed that the RNLB Norman Harvey was launched just before 8am at the request of UK Coastguard, to assist a 42ft yacht with five people onboard.

It did not take them long to reach the yacht, and after adjusting her direction of heel and making her secure, the crew were brought ashore.

The Bembridge RNLI plan to launch RNLB Alfred Williams this afternoon at around 5pm to help tow the vessel.
