AN ISLE of Wight silversmith has opened her own shop.

Gabbie Gavaghan, of Carisbrooke, officially opened Mindfully Made last Saturday — with a helping hand from Isle of Wight High Sheriff Geoff Underwood.

Located in Watchbell Lane, Newport, the shop sells handmade jewellery,

Gabbie uses eco silver and fairtrade gold wherever possible to make her pieces.

The shop will also stock a range of eco-friendly items, from handmade soap bars and bamboo hairbrushes to cork handbags, purses and wallets.

Gabbie said: "I am really excited to have opened my own shop.

"I'm stocking my own jewellery and using eco silver, which is still 925 sterling, but 100 per cent recycled."

Gabbie studied at the London Jewellery School, before learning more as a silversmith at The Jewellery Cabin, Newport.

Over the last six months, Gabbie has been tutored by Guy Morey of G&M Jewellers, Ryde.

Mindfully Made is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am until 4pm.
