COWES Youth Football Club's talented U15 side have just completed a remarkable first season playing in the Mid-Solent League — netting the title and cup.

Last summer, the club set itself the challenge joining the U15A Division of the Mid-Solent League and, despite playing well, got off to a losing start.

But their hard work led to them going on a superb unbeaten run, winning 11 and drawing one of their remaining games to become champions.

They did the double by lifting the Mid-Solent League Cup, beating Widbrook Whirlwinds 2-0 in the final.

“We knew we’d taken on a massive challenge. It was a completely new experience for the boys,” said manager, Eden Mwamuka.

“When we joined the league, our objective was to avoid relegation, but teamwork, hard work and dominating opponents paid off. The boys kept believing and worked hard for each other, not themselves.

“They can’t wait to defend the league and cup titles next season.”

The squad comprised: Arren Warner, Joshua Knowles, Liam Mwamuka, Leo Jones (captain), Caister Haisell, George Humphreys, Joshua and Caleb Neale, Daniel Garbett, Jenson Norman, Luca Cretella, Jed Montagu, Stanley Harrison, Stephen McCarthy, Harrison Churchward, Thomas Kirby, Jamie White and Luke Felstead-Henry.

Sponsors were Hillbans, JMP Partnership and the ASDA Foundation.
