TWO young jazz musicians — both of whom have worked with the Isle of Wight Youth Jazz Orchestra — will be showcasing their talents at Newport Jazz Club's annual young talent show.

At the age of 23, Dominic Jones has been playing sax, in his own words. 'ever since I watched Lisa play her saxophone on the Simpsons.'

Since then he has gone on to study jazz at Chichester College and graduate with a jazz degree from Middlesex University.

His influences include Bobby Wellins and Derek Nash.

Also performing will be six-part ensemble Pick-Up 6, led by Cameron Tarry.

Aged just 15 and 16, they met at around 11 years old and bonded over a love of music.

They all joined the school jazz band and are currently members of the Island Free School Senior Jazz Band with a repertoire ranging from early Dixieland jazz right up to this year's pop songs.

The concert will be held at the Apollo Theatre, at 3pm next Sunday (June 16).
