NEW overnight parking charges are being rolled out across the Island this month.

Over the next three weeks, the Isle of Wight Council will be updating signs and ticket machines so they accommodate the new £1 fee.

Motorists are advised to check tariff boards and machines as these will indicate whether the new charge has started.

The new parking charges, rolled out under last year's budget proposals, will net the council £147,500.

Residents who live within 200 metres of a pay and display car park can purchase a discounted permit for £165 per year.

For more information on the permit, visit the council's website.
