RAILWAY enthusiasts and local history buffs can take a look at parts of the Island from years gone by in a driver's-eye-view video of the Ryde to Shanklin train line.

The video, filmed from the drivers cab of an old British Railway train in 1982, follows the entire journey from Ryde to Shanklin and back again.

David Alligan, who made the DVD, said: "Being a bit of a railway nut, I thought it was an interesting piece of footage.

"I like archive material and looking back. How time flies."

The DVD will be available from Ryde Bookshop, High Street, or directly from Mr Alligan by calling 01394 470112.
