THE man found dead in Lake last night (Monday) has been named locally as former Isle of Wight Councillor and Lake Parish Councillor, Gerry White.

Mr White was the landlord of The Stag Inn, Lake.

His body was found in woodland in Lake where he had been involved in a project to create a nature reserve and allotment space.

Police have arrested a 60-year-old man from Sandown on suspicion of murder.

Mr White's family have been informed.

Detective chief inspector Justin Torgout said yesterday: “We currently have someone in custody and are keen to establish the exact circumstances of this man’s death, so if you have any information that could assist us, then please call us on 101.”
