AN UNDERWATER theme was the subject of the annual Balloon Festival at St John the Baptist Church in Northwood.
The church hosted the event on May 18 and 19 — and it attracted more than 500 people through the doors.
Balloon artists Twisted Inflations created huge sculptures, including a larger-than-life pirate with ship and anchor, a 3ft octopus and his friends, a smiley starfish arch, a mermaid, floating fish, bubbles and a host of sea creatures.
Rev Amanda Collinson said: "The church was transformed and we had so many people turn up, we were delighted.
"Holding events like this is just a case of making people aware that although it is a 13th century church, it is still very relevant for the community today.
"We wanted it to be a joyous occasion for the whole family."
