PART OF Cowes town centre will be closed for resurfacing works.

The road 'loop' between Terminus Road, The High Street and Carvel Lane is due to be upgraded over two nights – Tuesday, June 4, Wednesday, June 5.

It will be closed overnight while the work is carried out, between 7.30pm and 6am.

Island Roads said it was in discussion with transport providers about the impact on services.

The section under work serves the Red Jet Terminal, a taxi rank and Southern Vectis' bus route between Cowes and Newport.

The road will be open as usual outside the working hours, and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Keith Gourlay, Island Roads construction manager said: “Those who use the road will be well aware it is in need of an upgrade.

“I would like to thank road users and businesses in advance for their co-operation and understanding.”
