TODAY (Monday) sees the launch of Restart a Heart Day (RSHD) on the Isle of Wight.

Following the success of RSHD in October, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust Ambulance Training and Community Response Services (ATCoRS) have teamed up with Island schools.

They will be providing free CPR training sessions throughout the year to Island school children, in a pledge to help make every Island child a lifesaver.

Brighstone Primary school are the first school — and first in the UK — to receive free CPR training today.

Victoria White, head of ambulance at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, said: “Cardiac arrest can occur at any time — the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service is passionate about educating our community.

"We are grateful to all the schools that have committed to our free CPR training sessions."

The ATCoRS will also be offering free CPR training at various venues across the Isle of Wight later this year, in October, in support of RSHD.
