We haven't heard this one before — travel delays due to jellyfish in the filters.
Wightlink's FastCat Wight Ryder II was slightly delayed on Friday evening for a very unusual reason.
The ferry operator confirmed it was due to jellyfish.
The captain said: "It's true. There appeared a mass of jellyfish in the Solent last night. Myself and the crew responded quickly by removing a few jellyfish caught in the sea water strainer.
"This is a very rare occurrence. An American tourist told me the crew were impressive in the way they quickly fixed the problem."
