THANKS to the generous support of four organisations, Bembridge Lifeboat Station has a new defibrillator.
With funding from Co-operative Funeral Care, Lane End Beach Huts, The Wight Strollers and 5 Star Pest Control, there is now an automated external defibrillator next to the Bembridge Royal National Lifeboat Institutions' gift shop.
A unit with spare pads, and servicing on an annual basis, costs in the region of around £1,500.
John Keyworth, Bembridge RNLI lifeboat operations manager, said: "In the past, we've had to travel about a third of a mile to reach the nearest defibrillator."
John urges any community to take a look into exactly where their nearest defibrillator is located.
He asked: "Where is your nearest defibrillator?"
