LEADING marine design and manufacturing company, Spinlock, has bought the old Cowes police station.

The move will almost double the size of the award-winning company’s base on the Isle of Wight.

The former police station, which has around 5,500sqft of space, has been empty for the past three years since being put up for sale.

Chris Hill, Spinlock chief executive, said: “Developing the police station allows us to secure the space we require for continued growth while maintaining our prime and iconic location in Cowes.

"As well as expanding our sales and marketing team, the new space will provide enhanced new research and development test facilities for faster development of new products."

Spinlock, which employs 50 staff, is a global leader in the design and manufacture of equipment for leisure watersports users and commercial maritime professionals.

The building is situated opposite Spinlock’s current head office in Birmingham Road, home to Spinlock for more than 50 years.
