POLICE have launched an investigation following reports of a burglary at a private members' club.

The break-in was reported at the Otto Club, in Union Street, Ryde, on Wednesday last week.

In a Facebook post to members, the club said: "It is with great regret I have to inform you that, at sometime today, intruders have entered the Otto venue, burgled and ransacked the interior, stealing many items.

"The police are investigating the matter and have advised we should remain closed until they have completed their immediate investigations. We are advised this should take no longer than a few days.

"Thank you for your continued support throughout this stressful time."

An Isle of Wight police spokesperson said officers were investigating reports of burglary and criminal damage.

Anyone with information can report it to police by calling 101, and quoting the reference 44190157944.
