GODDARDS Brewery has produced a gluten free and vegan friendly lager — pint of Planet, anyone?

Brewer Josh Davies is behind the top secret recipe for the lager, which is clean and crisp with a smooth bitterness, sitting somewhere between a Pilsner and Vienna lager.

It has been brewed with local malted barley, known as Planet, and has an aromatic expression of fruity and herbal notes.

Josh said: “It was great to be let loose to spend the last seven months trying new ingredients, brewing methods old and new, to create this refreshing flavoursome lager.”

Xavier Baker, managing director at Goddards, said: “You may be wondering why gluten free and why vegan friendly.

"We have been inundated with requests to bring you something that fits this criteria, and Planet lager has been the perfect way to fill the gap that there has been within our range.”

Goddards Brewery, founded by Anthony Goddard, was established in 1993 and is the oldest brewery in operation on the Isle of Wight.
