FIREFIGHTERS were called to a property in Carisbrooke just before noon (today) following reports of a potential domestic fire.

Two appliances were dispatched from Newport to attend the scene at Carisbrooke Road, where crews gained entry to the property through a window.

A concerned member of the public alerted services at approximately 11.45am after hearing the fire alarm sounding and the smell of burning.

The IW Fire Service confirmed that an oven was the cause of the alarm.

Fire crews left the scene before 12.30pm.
