A HEAVY police presence has been reported in Shanklin today (Wednesday).

Witnesses have described how police officers entered a property on North Road with crow bars and a battering ram.

Sniffer dogs were also sighted on the road.

One man said it looked like two people were arrested.

Four vehicles were in the area, including a patrol car and people carrier.

Isle of Wight Police has confirmed three people — two men and a woman — have been arrested.

A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that specialist officers executed pre-planned warrants at addresses on North Road in Shanklin this morning.

"The warrants relate to an investigation into the supply of drugs. 

"Two men and a woman have been arrested as part of our investigation. They remain in custody at this time. 

"Enquiries are ongoing. 

"Anyone with information relating to drug related harm or possible linked activity should contact the Ventnor Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101."
