A RED Funnel passenger has been taken to hospital following a lorry collision on the car deck.

Two cars and a HGV were involved in the incident, at around 1.30pm today (Monday), as they were driving off the Red Osprey after it arrived in Southampton.

A Red Funnel spokesperson said police and paramedics were called to the scene, and the passenger — who was getting into her car when the collision happened — was taken to Southampton General Hospital with minor injuries.

"The police are liaising directly with the driver of one of the vehicles and we are assisting with their enquiry," said the spokesperson.

"Safety onboard our ferries is of primary importance and the safety of our customers is paramount to us.

"The crew onboard Red Osprey were on hand immediately to assist with the incident before the emergency services arrived.”

Earlier today, Red Funnel attributed delays on the service between East Cowes and Southampton to a medical incident on board.
