DEREK Sandy will be welcoming visitors to the Isle of Wight with special performances on Wightlink's ferries.

The Island singer will perform on several crossings over the next few weekends, following on from his success in the Britain's Got Talent auditions.

He wowed judges with his original song 'Welcome to the Isle of Wight' and earned four yeses — taking him through to the next stage of the competition.

Derek will perform on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne route in May, on Saturday 18, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 as well as June 1.

He will be spreading his love of the Island to everyone on board Victoria of Wight on the 11am and 1pm sailings.

Derek said: "I can’t wait to perform on board Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight this summer and share my love of the Isle of Wight with passengers and crew. I’m really happy that my music has raised the profile of the Island and hope it will encourage more people to visit in the future."

Wightlink chief executive Keith Greenfield adds: "We were delighted that the judges recognised Derek’s star quality in Britain’s Got Talent and know our customers will want to hear him performing on board our flagship Victoria of Wight."
