A PIECE of ordnance has been exploded by bomb experts at Totland beach this morning — the second this week.

The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team conducted a controlled explosion and the incident was stood down at 9.10am.

The alarm was raised by a member of the public who found the unexploded ordnance in the area of Totland Pier.

The Hampshire and IW Constabulary secured the area overnight and HM Coastguard ensured vessels were kept away.

A piece of ordnance was exploded by the Royal Navy EOD on Tuesday evening.
