It couldn't be more Isle of Wight... a book written and photographed by the Island, for the Island and sponsored by Island business.

The Wight Book is being launched next month and celebrates all that is good about life here.

Twenty-two writers and ten photographers have produced the words and pictures which fill its 250 pages.

County Press publisher Alan Marriott is among those writing in the book.

It is the brainchild of well-known Island businessman Christopher Scott, who wanted to showcase the Isle of Wight, and will hopefully end up on the desks of movers and shakers around the world in a bid to lift the profile of the Island.

He has worked with designer Brian Marriott and photographer Ben Wood on the two-year project.

The plan is for the 1,000 copies of the book to be sold or given to businesses, organisations and investors, as well as visitors.

It is being launched at Nunwell House, Brading, on June 7, and went to press this week.

Mr Scott said: “My vision was to create a book that presented a positive message about the Isle of Wight.

"There are a lot of very good books about specific subjects, but not one that gives a comprehensive overview of the way we live, work and play here on the Island.

"The Wight Book is a celebration of all that is great about the Island…in all its different and colourful guises. "It is the culmination of a great deal of work from a team of contributors who are all passionate about the Island.

"My thanks go to everyone involved in this ambitious project, including the 70 business sponsors who helped make it happen.”
