HUNDREDS of scooters from visiting and local clubs, as well as solo riders, are expected to attend the Lambretta Day event in Ryde this bank holiday weekend.

Established in 1999 with just a handful of scooter enthusiasts, the annual event has grown hugely and this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Proceeds will go to Tonic Music for Mental Health.

The two-day event, on Saturday and Sunday (May 25 and 26), includes live music and DJs at the Balcony Bars, classic scooter displays and the traditional Sunday ride-out, departing from the Riverside Centre, Newport, at 1pm, for Ryde Pavilion, where there will be a barbecue and live music.

There will be competitions, with special anniversary trophies for the best scooters.

Bands lined up for the weekend include Who’s Who and The Jam’d tribute bands.

Organiser Steve Robson said: "As it’s our 20th anniversary, I wanted to make it extra special.

"I can’t wait for the evening entertainment. People are in for a real treat — all the bands are amazing.”

Tickets are available from Ryde Superbowl, the Bagel Wrap coffee shop, Ryde, and Visual Impact, Newport, and online at
