A CHILD with a broken ankle is currently being treated by the air ambulance at Ryde School.

The school confirmed that the pupil is being treated at the scene, and St Mary's Hospital said they were looking at conveying the patient into the hospital.

The child's parents have been informed.

The air ambulance attended at 2.16pm.

The school said: "We have a child with a suspected broken ankle. The ambulance service was called, we understand that other ambulances on the Island were already prioritised and the Air Ambulance arrived first and they are treating the pupil now."
