CITIZENS Advice Isle of Wight has launched a new service for people applying for Universal Credit.

Universal Credit is the new benefit that combines six benefits into one, including Job Seekers Allowance, housing benefit and child and working tax credits.

With the ‘help to claim’ service — a free, independent, impartial and confidential service — the charity has already helped more than 230,000 people nationally claim Universal Credit.

People are now able to access support from the charity, from submitting their application through to receiving their first full payment.

The team at Citizens Advice Isle of Wight offers face-to-face support and advice at Ryde and Newport Job Centres, and at other outreach locations throughout the Island.

Heidi Widgery, customer services manager at Newport Job Centre said: "It’s a great partnership that will benefit Island residents with initial Universal Credit applications."
