CROWDS braved the windy weather to flock to the Yarmouth Spring Festival on the Quayside on Saturday.

They were treated to music, food, a boat jumble — and safety exhibitions both on and off the water.

The event was organised by Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners. Scott Neill, deputy harbourmaster, said: "Considering the weather, it was very well attended, the north-easterly wind didn't do us any favours.

"We had more than 30 exhibitors and they all went away happy and the harbour was full for the weekend, so that was another bonus.

"The festival provided a focal point for both local residents and visitors and hopefully that meant increased footfall for businesses in the town."

Exhibitors included the RNLI, who offered static tours of the lifeboat, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, HM Coastguard and National Coastwatch.

There was also music provided by The Tea N Biscuit Boys and Slainte Va, as well as food stalls.

To coincide with the festival, both the Royal Solent Yacht Club and Yarmouth Sailing Club held open days with visitors being shown around their facilities.
